Shine on Hollywood Magazine’s Five-Year Anniversary Special Edition: Teamwork

Shine on Hollywood Magazine’s Five-Year Anniversary Special Edition: Teamwork

In 2012, my vision began to sprout. I turned ill and fought for my life in the hospital. What saved me, was the process of extracting a vision I had conceived for years, publishing a magazine where positive stories in Hollywood overtook the predominantly negative and gossip ridden entertainment world. As I lay in my hospital bed, this vision gave me a purpose. I believed in myself and it kept me alive. Giving birth to SOHM was mixed with a determination and positivity that I had never felt.

Today, during challenging times in the United States and internationally, our work at SOHM—building connection and understanding through the interviews we publish and the stories we share—could not be more vital. We continue to work tirelessly, to grow SOHM, to connect what matters to the world. We continuously aim to be part of the solution, developing an understanding among ourselves, driving empathy to promote a culture of education. By sharing stories with over 26.6 million readers, we can collectively see that SOHM illuminates truths that are vital to a civil society and healthy democracy. As a society, we need more commonalities than divisions, and from sharing this theme with our readers, the need for unity emerges. As a society, we need that unity to survive. SOHM offers a publication that shines hope into the world of Hollywood.

In 2017, SOHM doubled down on the stories we deliver across the globe. Over the course of the year, more than 250 people have been published in SOHM. Through global or direct outreach, we have many partners in nonprofit and entertainment organizations. It has always been, and will always continue to be, my goal to use a variety of formats to spread the word about all the good that is happening in the entertainment industry. Not just in Hollywood, but around the world as well, and by the end of 2017, we are introducing a new worldwide talk show, “Shine On Hollywood ALIVE!”

SOH-ALIVE! Adheres to SOHM’s principles, emerging with a live-streaming online talk show, co-hosted by a panel of men and women who discuss a variety of entertainment, causes, pop-culture and other highly relevant topics. Each show will offer people’s take on their driving cause, and will also feature “Art’s News,” a segment during the beginning of our “Hot Topics” slot. Later, the hosts will welcome various celebrities, who join them for a chat or a performance. The program also offers tips on beauty, fashion, diet and relationships. We at SOHM consistently aim to be an all-inclusive publication, appealing to a wide variety of people, and SOH-ALIVE! is no exception.

The launch will be a defining moment in our history, giving us the opportunity to scale our interview experience like never before. From the moment the show launches, we will interview people of all ages—many who have never heard of SOH-LIVE! or SOHM—in which we will invite teachers across the nation to ask their students to honor an elder, homeless person, or person with disabilities. We’ll work with local public TV and radio stations, school districts, other platform of social media, and education organizations to get the word out. The effort will succeed beyond all expectations.

In this issue, we are proud to bring you “Real People and Real Stories,” and the undying spirit of arts and pop-culture entertainment. It has been exciting and enlightening, more than I could have imagined! The outpouring of love and support from everyone in the United States, China and beyond has been overwhelming.

We are excited to celebrate this milestone anniversary with you in several different ways. You may have recently noticed the overall redesign of the magazine. With subtle and also obvious changes, the magazine’s fresh look gives you larger pictures, more videos and hyperlinks, and bigger stories, all within a more lengthy publication.

Finally, in celebration of our 5th anniversary, I would like to take a moment to thank my team for their tireless efforts and late nights, to bring the stories to you, the readers, that make this magazine so successful. The interviews, entertainment reviews and other pieces that make up Shine On Hollywood Magazine are due to a group effort where we support, encourage and heap praise on each other for continued jobs that are exceedingly well done. Therefore, I would like to put the spotlights on my team on this special issue of SOHM, and learn more about who they are. I’m proud to share that they are talented and beautiful human beings. There are people who wish to love more and give more of themselves unconditionally.

“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.” ~Andrew Carnegie

CELEBRATORY EVENING– SHINE ON HOLLYWOOD AWARDS® (SOHA) We will be honoring excellence in pure performance talent, distinguishing contributors to Music, Art, Design, and Acting as bettering our community. SOHA also includes Film, Media, and Broadcasting honorees.

Recognition of the Arts and Entertainment industry professionals are not nominee based. We are privileged to bestow honorees based on what they have given to the community. The recipients do not compete. Instead, we keep with our mission, that Real People and Real Stories do drive our unique and talented community. We believe that exceptionally positive stories need to be honored, and we utilize “Share Your Shine, Tell Your Story,” as the conduit for the Management Committee Team to review stand out contributors. Through giving the world a piece of greatness, “Share your Shine, Tell Your Story” enables an honoree to be amongst gifted colleagues and to celebrate and share positive stories on a celebratory evening.

The 2018 awards, to be awarded in September, are for HONOREES/RECIPIENTS in the following categories:

SOH Living Legend Awards
SOHM Educator & Mentor Awards
SOHM Community Builder Awards
